Carolina Aleixo
Carolina Aleixo is a newly graduated doctor aiming to start her career in Radiology in Berlin. She grew up bilingually, with her two mother tongues being Portuguese and German.
In 2022 she completed her medical studies in Prague and started to work on her doctoral thesis at Charité University Hospital in Berlin. Because of her interest in musculoskeletal radiology, she is conducting research on mechanical diseases of the sacroiliac joints and on possible aetiologies of this entity. For this purpose, she is evaluating pelvic X-ray images with suspected hip dysplasia in patients with mechanical and inflammatory diseases of the sacroiliac joints.
She hopes to complete her thesis in the upcoming year and looks forward to future research projects with the rheumatogical radiology group at Charité.

She is an Adjunct Professor of MSK Radiology at Universidade Federal Fluminense and a practicing radiologist of DASA group, currently working at Clínica de Diagnóstico por Imagem and ALTA Excelência Diagnóstica. She graduated with a degree in medicine from Universidade Gama Filho, completed a musculoskeletal fellowship at CHRU, Lille, France, a research fellowship at the University of California, San Diego and a PhD at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She is very involved in MSK research having authored and co-authored original research and book chapters. She is also very active in MSK education as she has presented in several Brazilian and International Conferences. She is a member of several radiology societies in Brazil and a member of the International Skeletal Society, being nominated as the chairman of its Outreach Program.

Dr. Aline Serfaty is a practicing musculoskeletal radiologist and medical director at MedscanLagos, in Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since December 2020, she is the president of the Radiology Society of Rio de Janeiro. She graduated with a degree in medicine from the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro and completed her residency at the Universidade Federal Fluminense. Dr. Juliane Greese works as a resident radiologist in her last year of training at the Charité Berlin. She completed her medical studies in Berlin and Lisbon. Already during this time, her interest in rheumatological imaging was triggered by the work on her doctoral thesis on the topic of spondyloarthritides.
In this context, she evaluated the X-ray, CT, and MRI imaging of more than 100 patients with suspected axial spondyloarthritis. An additional eight months of clinical training in the field of rheumatology gave her a clinical perspective on the subject in addition to the radiological one.
Katharina Ziegeler

Dr. Katharina Ziegeler is a board-certified radiologist at the department of radiology at Charité Berlin, where she completed her medical studies in 2015. Already during her undergraduate training, she discovered her passion for medical education as a tutor for practical medical skills in the learning center of Charité.
Scientifically, she began her work with analyses of CT imaging for chondrocalcinosis/CPPD and completed her doctorate on this topic. Subsequently, she published a series of scientific articles on imaging in rheumatic diseases. Dr. Roar Pedersen is head of MSK radiology at Unilabs Norway, a provider of outpatient radiology at 12 locations in Norway. He is also one of the Norwegian Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology founders and an experienced lecturer in radiology and MSK topics for the last 15 years. Wolfgang Fischer is a practising musculoskeletal radiologist. He studied medicine at the Universities of Heidelberg (Germany), Geneva (Switzerland) and Montpellier (France). From 1992 to 2008, he worked in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Neuroradiology at Augsburg municipal hospital (Germany). During his radiology training, he focused on musculoskeletal imaging and worked in several specialized departments. He was a visiting scholar at the University of California San Francisco in 1999. Since 2008 he has been working in a highly specialized MRI department in an orthopedic hospital.
He is the co-author of several books and co-editor of a standard textbook on musculoskeletal radiology. Dr. Fischer has gained popularity as a speaker at conferences and MRI courses. Denis Poddubnyy, MD, PhD, MSc (Epi), is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto.
In 2008, he completed his PhD thesis on cardiovascular pathology in ankylosing spondylitis. In 2013, he completed his postdoctoral thesis (Habilitation) focusing on the prediction and prevention of disease progression in early axial spondyloarthritis. He earned a Master’s degree in Epidemiology from the Institute of Public Health in Berlin in 2016.
