In this lecture, Milen Golchev delivers a practical, image-driven overview of injuries in alpine and board-based water sports, emphasizing how mechanisms and equipment shape typical trauma patterns. You’ll learn a pattern-recognition approach to common and clinically important findings—from skier’s thumb (UCL injury) and shoulder instability/AC-joint injuries to knee ligament/meniscal trauma and foot/ankle injuries where subtle fractures may be missed on radiographs. The session also highlights smart modality selection (X-ray, CT, or MRI) and reporting tips that help translate imaging into clear, actionable guidance for acute care and return-to-sport decisions.
By the end of this lecture, learners will be able to:

Dr. Milen Golchev is a board-certified radiologist. He completed his medical studies at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster, Germany, in 2010. He received his residency training at one of the largest municipal hospitals in Germany, the DO Clinic, where his interest in musculoskeletal radiology was further strengthened. His enthusiasm for digital media has guided him since his high school years, culminating in a doctoral thesis on the evaluation of a web-based information system in radiology at the Ruprechts-Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany. Alongside his job, he was able to complete his studies for a Master Of Health Business Administration at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, in 2016. After professional development up to the medical director of a regional MVZ location in Münsterland, he decided to focus his enthusiasm for MSK radiology as part of the DGMSR societies expert program at the Department of Radiology at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
