Case of the month: Cardiac and pulmonary

About the course

We have published another Case of the Month module. The topic is cardiac and pulmonary diseases. Just like the module on musculoskeletal diseases, three cases each are didactically prepared to a high standard and are available free of charge. And every month we add a new case and the oldest one is removed from the module.

Macori, Fabio

Fabio Macori

Dr. Fabio Macori is a consultant radiologist in Santo Spirito hospital, Rome, Italy, with a focus on thoracic imaging. After his medical studies he began training as a radiology specialist in Rome. His initial focus was on vascular radiology and intervention and he was a senior consultant in the Italian public health service, responsible for CT of the vessels and musculoskeletal radiology. In 2018 Dr. Macori moved to Ireland to specialize in the field of thoracic radiology. He is an active member of the European Society of Thoracic Imaging, the Irish Medical Council and both the Italian and European Radiological Societies.

Weerakkody, Yuranga

Yuranga Weerakkody

Dr. Yuranga Weerakkody is an internationally renowned radiologist with sub-specialty interests and expertise in thoracic imaging. Having completed his core radiology training in New Zealand and Australia, he has undertaken further subspecialist thoracic imaging training within Australasia as well as in France (sponsored by ESR) and in the United Kingdom. 
He is an associate editor for the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology (JMIRO), serves on the editorial board panel for Radiopaedia (one of the world’s largest online radiology resources), Diagnostic Imaging Pathways TM, Western Australia (international award-winning imaging decision support tool) and is also a peer reviewer for multiple other international radiology journals. 
His academic commitments include involvement with resident–registrar teaching within the Western Australian radiology state training program as well as with undergraduate radiology teaching programs within several Western Australian Universities. 

Lembcke, Alexander

Alexander Lembcke

Dr. Alexander Lembcke is a consultant radiologist at Charité, Berlin, Germany, specialized in cardiac imaging. After completing his medical studies, he began training as a radiology resident in Berlin in 1998, and his specialization in MRI and CT of the cardiovascular system began at that time. Very early, he also started his scientific career with numerous publications. In Boston, USA, at Massachusetts General Hospital, he spent a year as a research assistant in abdominal imaging. This was followed later by a year as a senior consultant in radiology at the Heart Center Leipzig, Germany. In 2011, he received the Venia Legendi. Dr. Lembcke then focused exclusively on cardiac computed tomography, concentrating on reducing radiation exposure and a minimal amount of contrast agents. He is an active member of the German Radiological Society and a reviewer for numerous international journals.
