SPECT/CT: Solving Unclear Bone Pain

About the Course

This case collection demonstrates the value of SPECT/CT in evaluating patients with unexplained or persistent bone pain. The selected cases span a wide spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions, from subtle ligamentous injuries to rare inflammatory syndromes and highlight how hybrid imaging can localize pathology, clarify ambiguous findings, and guide targeted management.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this case collection, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the characteristic SPECT/CT findings of common and uncommon causes of bone and joint pain.
  • Differentiate between mechanical, inflammatory, infectious, and neoplastic etiologies of musculoskeletal pain based on hybrid imaging patterns.
  • Correlate SPECT/CT findings with clinical presentation and other imaging modalities to improve diagnostic accuracy.
  • Identify subtle ligamentous and tendon pathologies that may be missed on conventional imaging.
  • Appreciate the role of SPECT/CT in guiding management decisions for patients with persistent or unexplained bone pain.
