BCV Refocus 2025:

Looking Back With Perspective

After Spotify Wrapped, YouTube Recap and your credit card’s annual review, here comes another format inviting you to look back: BCV Refocus 2025. Why? Because at the end of the year it’s time to celebrate — and sometimes it’s only in retrospect that you see what really mattered.

Time to refocus and celebrate

The year is coming to a close, but no rush. With BCV Refocus 2025, we’re taking a moment to pause and review the past year. Think of it as travelling back to the moments that shaped 2025. Maybe you were there and remember them. Maybe not. Either way, it’s worth reading on — because we’ll also share what’s coming next and what you won’t want to miss in the year ahead.

BerlinCaseViewer in Action — Rheumatology in Focus

Rheumatology in focus

More than ten years ago, BerlinCaseViewer started as an interactive workshop tool. Since then, it has grown into a platform that doesn’t just convey knowledge, but makes learning engaging — focusing on individual cases down to the last pixel. Our core area? Rheumatology.

How can inflammatory and non-inflammatory rheumatic diseases be distinguished reliably using clinical data and imaging? When do findings suggest a mechanical cause? These are the questions we’ve been addressing from the start — hands-on, structured, and with a clear eye for detail.

BCV On Tour

At the course in Rio de Janeiro

In 2025, BerlinCaseViewer was once again on the road — from Berlin to Toronto, from Amsterdam to Rio de Janeiro. Through courses, workshops and sessions, participants explored the wide spectrum of rheumatic diseases together with us. The goal: to see the full picture, recognize patterns and uncover new connections. Or, as we like to say: Connect the Dots in Imaging.

A special highlight was our session “Practical Skills: Imaging in Axial Spondyloarthritis” at the EULAR Congress in Barcelona, held together with experts who also regularly contribute to our own Rheuma Day event.

Rheuma Day 2025

Rheuma Day once more showcased what modern medical education can look like when clinical expertise meets the right technical setup. Around 40 participants joined us in Berlin, while more than 120 attended online. Thanks to the BCV platform, both audiences were actively involved — whether in the hotel’s conference hall or at their desk at home. A great success, and one that clearly deserves a sequel. So read on and stay tuned!

BCV Online

If you missed the Rheuma Day, you may have joined one of our other online formats. While temperatures were rising outside, and other people tried to keep a cool head, Summer of Cases kept minds busy, turning up the heat for diagnostics from August to September.

For those who wanted to focus on the essentials in 2025, X-Rays Only on YouTube offered a true back-to-basics approach. Because when MRI isn’t available, plain radiographs still matter. Alongside classic rheumatology topics, a special edition with radiologist Özgür Tosun focused on tumor imaging.

To celebrate the International Day of Radiology (IDoR) this year, we sought to broaden our perspective with a state-of-the-art talk on November 8. So we invited four experts to a live stream discussing the impact of artificial intelligence in radiology and beyond. The session is still available to watch — subscribing to our YouTube channel ensures you won’t miss future sessions.

And finally, the BCV Festive Calendar accompanied all those who prefer solving case-based challenges over baking cookies until the holidays. Twenty-four learning impulses, one case per day, maybe left you sugar-deprived, but definitely offered some food for thought. And there’s one question left worth asking: should we do it again next year?

Broaden Your Mind — Open up New Perspectives

With new formats and a growing community — nearly as fast-growing as our case library — it became clear that we needed to take a closer look at how to move forward. Not just as a platform, but as a company.

With Michael Dabrowski joining as our new General Manager, we gained a valuable sparring partner. As a brand strategist with strong technical insight, he supports us in sharpening ideas, setting priorities and keeping the bigger picture in view. Together, we’ve initiated projects and published formats that will continue to shape BCV going forward.

One Year of BCV Online Academy

The BCV Online Academy completed its first full year in 2025. The training program offers an immersive learning experience with interactive case analyses and up-to-date expert knowledge — designed for continuous professional development.

Members gain access to a wide range of lessons, including video-based case discussions. As always, challenging cases are part of the mix, helping to sharpen diagnostic skills.

A Semester of Expert Talks

What started in October 2024 concluded successfully in April 2025: twelve practical sessions spread across one semester. Internationally recognized experts shared their knowledge on selected MSK topics, encouraged case discussions and offered CME credits.

Season one of Expert Talks is complete — and season two is already in planning. Starting in March 2026, participation will be free for Academy members. So don’t forget to enroll in time!

BCV Creator For Cases to Show More

For everyone who wants to present cases as interactively as we do, we made the technology behind BerlinCaseViewer available through BCV Creator. The tool allows users to upload radiological images and prepare them for interactive case discussions — for memorable presentations or even a fully independent academy.

A great example is NucMed Academy by Ziad Risheq. It demonstrates both how broadly applicable BCV technology is across medical disciplines, and how BCV Creator can serve as the foundation for an entire learning platform.

A Second Opinion — Powered by improved.online

With improved.online, we created a platform designed for situations where time or specialized expertise may be limited in daily clinical practice. Built on BerlinCaseViewer technology and scientific know-how, improved.online offers a structured central reading and second-opinion service for clinics and practices.

After registration, cases with suspected axial spondyloarthritis can be submitted securely in a structured way to a central expert team to get a second opinion. After reviewing the data, you will receive a consistent, quality-assured assessment with clear feedback and transparent reasoning.

At its core, improved.online focuses on three things: standardization, expertise and speed. It helps reduce variability in reporting and supports the integration of imaging and clinical questions — making decisions in daily practice more reliable. And because medical questions rarely come alone or stop at a single indication, extensions to additional conditions, such as lupus, are already planned.

A Short Break for Big Ideas

After launching so many new projects, we also took time as a team to pause. From Essen, Vienna and Berlin, we came together in Wandlitz, Germany, for our first BCV retreat. In the midst of the usually hectic pre-holiday season, we deliberately chose to meet in person

Between pine trees and the historic surroundings near Lake Bogensee, we exchanged ideas, reflected on what we had built together, and celebrated our progress. The break sharpened our focus, sparked new ideas and gave us fresh energy for the year ahead.

There was just one video call we couldn’t skip: a live check-in with our colleague Denis Poddubnyy, now based in Toronto, Canada. Denis is reshaping imaging in rheumatology by leveraging the new capabilities of AI. His input tied directly into many of the questions we were discussing as a team — and reinforced where imaging, technology and clinical practice are heading.

2026 Is Almost Here — Save These Dates Already

So, what’s next? Proven formats like Rheuma Day will continue — this time internationally, in English, on April 24, 2026.

X-Rays Only is also returning. The next live session takes place on January 2, 2026. Make sure to save the date and enable notifications so you don’t miss this event on the often-overlooked connections between skeletal and chest imaging in systemic disease. Further highlights include the Knee Days on June 10 and 11, 2026.

We’re also expanding the BCV Online Academy to cover additional specialties, opening new perspectives beyond traditional boundaries — with upcoming content in neuroradiology and cardiac imaging.

Data protection will be another key focus in 2026. With a dedicated data protection officer, we’re strengthening security and ensuring GDPR-compliant workflows, so users can focus on their work while we take care of the details.

2026 has plenty in store. But for now, slow things down a little. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, allow yourself a moment of procrastination. Naturally, with the right expertise close at hand, because we’ve got you covered there as well.
